The Wrath of Caine Trailer

Pusha T’s first mixtape after leaving the clipse is almost here, and he gave us a little preview of what to expect.  The grittiest rapper of G.O.O.D. music really got theatrical with this one, on some intro to the Dark Knight Rises type shit, but its got me excited.  So watch and keep an eye out for The Wrath of Caine - Samer

Beat mixtapes are becoming harder and harder to find. The era of the instrumental listeners is dying but that doesn’t mean that a certain end is near. There is a certain revival movement that can be noticed and among this small handful of revivalists comes a producer from the NY state that has laid down a few beat tapes for lenders of the ears. Hannibal King started off with what seemed to be humble beginnings but he has led on a relaxing scene and a very welcoming one at that. Tape after tape, he dropped more pleasant sounds that don’t get repetitive  rather each track sounds like it was taken care of like child, making them individual works of art. The smooth and soulful vibe that is emitted from this recent mixtape is alluring at the least and has more than it’s fair share of major influence on the listener as it takes the listener to a very enjoyable state of mind. To have such power with nothing more than just harmonious sound and tranquil flows, that is talent and Hannibal seems to show just that. From the start of this 11 track mixtape, there is a relaxing feel that just comes and it’s as if you’re taken to a place that you forever want to stay at because of it’s peace and cool vibe. Track after track, the tape gets better and flows wonderfully, taking the listener near and far with sheer loops and samples. This tape is a must for any musical library. Download it, listen to it and spark up a few to it. - Daniel

Action Bronson isn’t my favorite rapper. Let me clarify that statement properly. He’s ferocious but his recent body of works hasn’t warranted a tape or album that I bump on the daily. But this Alchemist produced wonder changes everything. You see The Alchemist brings out this kind of tenacity and gall from his collaborators which tends to make their tapes extremely vicious both beat wise and lyrics wise. Bronson was already a man who fucked ear drums with his rhymes of food, bitches, and badass moments. However Rare Chandeliers achieves something that few tapes do; a complete balance between production, raps, and the message the rapper is trying to portray. See that cover? Notice the assortment of strange off-kilter events happening? The crocodile with a machine gun attachment for an arm? The women standing above him with a knife for a arm? The strange wizard ushering a a swift uppercut from the two contestants (in some obviously underground fighting arena style battle). All of these eclectic events put together easily translate to the tracks even though you might not hear mention of them directly. Bronson has a gift of being able to paint vivid pictures of getting handjobs, shooting people with AKs, getting ridiculously stoned, and eating mutton legs all in one go. As such Go download this tape and enjoy.- Imran

Wiz Khalifa ft The Weeknd - Remember You

The Visuals for Wiz’s single from his sophomore album is far darker then anything else that he’s released. Though Abel doesn’t make an appearance, the tone is far more on the Weekend’s end of the scale then Wiz’s easy going demeanor. However make no mistake Wiz does try and go for a more serious, drugged up, party atmosphere for this one. Check it out above and remember O.N.I.F.C drops December 4th.- Imran

Danger mouse and Daniel Luppi - Two against one

Heres the visuals from the Colab project of Danger Mouse and Daniel Luppi, Rome.  The songs pretty amazing, but what really stands out is Anthony Francisco schepperd’s distinct, psychedelic style.  The whole video is a trip so enjoy this shit.  - Samer

So with snow coming in and winter season about to kick the public in the face, many flee to the summer time, if they have the money like Gucci. (Note: if you understood that reference, then kudos to you, 1017 Bricksquad is always looking for well devoted fans) Miami is a place where the old go to retire, where Spaceghostpurrp based his underground movement on, it’s the place where the cocaine cowboys came to dominate America in the 80’s and it’s also the place where many Hispanic women are found in bikinis near the beach looking for an old rich man to mooch off of. Race/ethnicity set aside, it was the place where the 1980’s thrived the most, not because of the financial gain it had illegally with the white woman known as cocaine, but because of the electronic music that swept the whole nation. It was heard in movies and it spread like wildfire as it found its way to the mainstream and soon enough, it died with the other genres of the past. Now it is often looked upon as “What the fuck am I listening to? I’m not Tony Montana”. Tony Montana or not, the almost trance like music is actually quite catchy as it’s beginning to come back, slowly but surely. It starts with basic electronic sounds but the more raw it is and the more upbeat the temp is, the catchier the sound becomes to the listener’s ears. Perterbator comes with an amazing 12 track album that is 80’s to the last second. The album is nothing but nostalgic emotions as well as interesting vibes, as it gives the listener quite the dosage of synths and what others would like to consider “machine sex”. The album flows well and that makes this album that much better, as most albums are starting to become choppy and lose flow, which gives the album a slight lost cause. So what exactly is this album? Is it a tribute to all the horribly inspired movies that became icons? Is it an album that’s supposed to make us want to be Marty Mcfly? I doubt that this album will make you want to go back to the time of neon colors and humorous fashion, but it will cause a sudden urge to dance in a drug induced club, preferably surrounded by Cuban woman and drug lords as well as crooked cops. This album is very alluring, and the beats are all well produced, the sound is rich and the bass is easy to the ear, giving depth to every track. The album is even smoker friendly, as it will “trip you out man”. Download it, enjoy it, solve a Rubik’s Cube with it, but just listen to the rising genre. - Daniel

Making noise in Atlanta, Trinidad Jame$ comes with a mixtape on election day. The 10 track project starts off with the oddest of sounds as the hook comes with a fairly long and overstayed welcome to the listener’s ears. A rapper from A-Town, what else is new? Well this rappers looks like the Jimmy Henndrix of Hip Hop, that’s new, aside from that, he seems to be a small friend of the not so Hip Hop scene, with track 2 coming in and creating a ruckus with its slightly off sound full of electronic rhythm. With over a basket full of rappers coming from Atlanta, what could this guy bring? Gucci took trap and has now labeled himself a God, with his fair reasons, and 2 Chainz changed his name and is now with the big dogs that go under the name G.O.O.D. Music, what is it that Trinidad Jame$ has to offer to the ear? Well for starters, he has extremely long hooks and a similar style to that of A$AP Rocky. The flow that this rapper brings sounds pretty basic and it doesn’t sound any different than from the gold loving fiend, with a mob, from New York. The delivery on this mixtape is repetative and doesn’t make him look as if he is a hardened criminal which is honest to God, a shocking thing. The tracks are all fairly boring, that is until it hits his single turned to video “All Gold Everything”, this is where things get slightly interesting as the instrumental is a heavy hitter and like the prom dancing song of the Trap genre. The lyrics are fair, they aren’t amazingly brilliant, but they do the instrumentals justice as they make 2 Chainz sound like he fathered a child and left him to follow his footsteps. As if this review weren’t confusing enough, the mixtape isn’t polished to perfection but there are a few songs that do make the listener that much more interested in the molly loving “hustler”. The instrumentals are all pretty addictive and if the mood for ignorant rap is coming up then this mixtape is just the correct amount of dosage for that craving. It isn’t trap music, but it isn’t radio singles, it’s just the right amount of what-the-fuck-is-this-shit to get you going and getting some feelings attached to this project. The rundown to this mixtape: if 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky had a class science project that had to have a fashion statement in it as well, Trinidad Jame$ would be just that, with lyricism and delivery that has a little bit of both and the luscious looks and taste of the revolutionary left handed guitar God. Download the mixtape with a mental note, this isn’t an average mixtape, it’s Atlanta at its latest. - Daniel

For a long time, Hip Hop has been in this small struggle going on a tightrope and expanding its definition, going into different routes but there is a group out there that bring it back to its roots. Clear Soul Forces is a small group from Detroit and they have a clear message and they are bringing back the good ol’ days. The days of looped samples and Wu-Tang styled instrumentals seems dead but with this group, it seems as though they brought justice to that branch of Hip Hop. Detroit is a rough place, and has only a handful of rappers come out and make a substantial amount of success, to name a few we have America’s favorite emotional white boy with candy deficiency, Eminem, and an immediate mainstream, radio sensation Big Sean. What more can D-Town offer? They offer us an amazing group that has insane lyrics that hit your ears hard and chew them off like Mike Tyson. The lyrics are far from fair as they exceed the basic rapper and contain tough topics to talk about, they’re very graphic but the group has times of light talk and brings a break to the listener as the 15 track album is full of amazing word play and strong powerful lines. The verses are all well done but what matters most in this is the delivery, how each rapper had a slick flow and was able to deliver each verse with such control. The flow of these four gives the listener a soothing reminisce and nostalgic feel. The instrumentals are amazing, easy to the ear and are simple but that doesn’t mean they can’t stand alone. The instrumentals are great enough to be a beat-tape alone but the lyrics added to this make this a solid album, a lethal injection to the ears of the listener. This is hands down a must download to any Hip Hop connoisseur. - Daniel

Young L - Automated Oceans

Young L, the producer of the notorious young group from Berkeley, AKA The Pack, has drifted away as the group went their separate ways and on his solo journey he dropped a mixtape titled Loud Pockets, and this was an awful mixtape. His solo career seemed to be going downhill but in due time he has improved as his instrumentals went from sheer hip hop to something more outlandish, it was hard for him to get a good flow or good lyrics or a solid rhythm for that matter on his last mixtape. He did drop another mixtape titled “Enigma Theory” and it was much better, with a wonderful opening that is this song. The visuals came a while back but since this mixtape Young L seems to be on the track to a steady and controllable career that can gain popularity. - Daniel

Rise

It seems as though the hip hop scene is going through this new trend where the Houston chopped and screwed sound is becoming big and influencing so many tracks, however, in Austin, there are some Rebels that are going the other direction and disregard the memo. They have already made one great project and this time they drop another with great timing. Rise is a small 11 track project full of nothing but positivity; the verses on every track are nothing short of impressive and likeable as we see a calm but unique flow being given to us. The delivery on this project is phenomenal and the lyricism is fair  but what’s to note as far as lyricism goes are the topics that are chosen: weed, life and females. Although these topics sound so familiar, the Austin Rebels decide to give things a twist and allow weed to be a luxury that can really help, females are not necessarily sexual objects but women that have emotions as well and life should be taken seriously, but be lived positively. The lyrics on this project are indeed impressive but what’s more impressive is the production on this project. The instrumentals are all extremely relaxing and very friendly to the listener’s ears as they give off this semi-90’s hip hop vibe but it’s a feel-good vibe that comes from every track. There’s no need for a heavy bass or a catchy hook that will be spread through the radio, this project is basically amazing beats with amazing lyrics. Right from the start, the looping sample blasts the listener with this chill wave and from that point on the project takes the listener to this tour inside the lyricist’s mind, which happens to be a cleansing pallet  a genius mind all with heavy potential. If you’re looking for a project that has a good message, chill lyrics and very relaxing instrumentals  then look no further, this project is very much so “smoke friendly.” Download this project and have a listen to the up and coming Austin Rebels. - Daniel.

Gorgeous Children

If Lil B “The Basedgod” somehow, with a disturbing turn of events, became white and slightly more fucked up, you’d get a very bizarre but admirable and likable sound. Gorgeous Children is a duo from God knows where, and they’re here making music that may sound cliche and may bring a sense of Déjà vu but they’re take on Chopped and Screwed music as well as trill wave music is honestly remarkable. Although it may sound odd that white kids are out and about talking just as harshly, if not more explicitly about what “normal” rappers talk about, the music that is created by this duo is catchy. From the very beginning the Album opens up with a very relaxed and very dark track, full of hip hop influence and a sprinkle of electronic sound. Basically these guys sound like Eminem on heroine running over amazingly produced tracks that would be produced by a more electronic Spaceghostpurrp who collaborated with Lil B for a small amount of ghost writing. This may not sound pleasant at all, but the voice of the rapper is not as annoying as the snickers has been. This 12 track album has possibly the most fascinating production I’ve ever heard as it brings in a lot of takes from already done genres and there is an obvious spin but the whole thing is brilliant. The spaced out and extremely slow beats/instrumentals are all phenomenally done, simple and straight to the point. This album is best suitable for those that drink dirty-ass sprite, or have a love affair with indo, but even a sober ear can find this album pleasant. The production is one upside of this album and the lyrics are well panned out, for although they sound typical, they have the same amount of addiction as trap music. The simplicity and darkness of each of the verses is something to value, especially since the instrumentals aren’t so easy to rap over, so a slow, almost basic talk with rhythm is what’s needed in each track, and that is exactly what’s given. They dub their music “Goth Hip Hop” and it can easily fit the genre well, and whether this genre is already out or not, this duo is more than ready to take this genre to the surface and into the ears of the mainstream listeners. Download this album and for the best experience, be extremely fucked up while listening to this remarkable album. - Daniel

Trap God

Trap music seems to make up a lot of the hip hop music now and with it’s heavy hitting bass and extremely catchy lyrics, it’s a recipe for a widely spread genre. Gucci Mane dropped a mixtape titled Trap God, a name he dubbed himself with many obvious reasons, and this mixtape is pure fire. Right from the beginning, the mixtape opens up with heavy and solid instrumentals that come strong, full of bass and drums that make the listener want to go buy $200 worth of coke to resell to be just like Gucci. This mixtape is well crafted, and the lyrics are remarkable. It’s Gucci’s I’m Up on steroids: nothing but lyrics that involve drugs, money and sex, as well as the loss of a fellow friend. His features are also something to note as he has  Rick Ross, Future, Meek Mill, Young Scooter, Waka Flocka, Verse Simmonds, Kevin McCall, Young Fresh, Trae The Truth, Kirko Bangz, Birdman and T-Pain on this mixtape. To have a man like T-Pain on a track is something to applaud at all alone, but to have this many features from many respectable artists from the trap genre all in one mixtape? That is something that should be taken into heavy consideration. The production on this mixtape is beyond admirable, it has amazing instrumentals and filters, and there are a few breaks, that leave the listener with breathers from the hard hitting tracks that just keep following one another. Trap music has proclaimed itself the genre of the moment, and it has an artist that will has nearly perfected the music. As if the instrumentals and production weren’t enough, the catchy words and verses that the man says are all just shocking; the amount of urban talk is extraordinary. This mixtape is amazing, Gucci Mane went all out on this project and had had his fellow fans waiting for a great reason. This mixtape is a must to download, it has so many uses that vary from nasty booty shakin to creepin on a fellow enemy you want to murk or listen to while bagging up the drugs that one will be selling. - Daniel
