Everything is a remix part 3

The third entry in this amazing series deals with the actual process of how things came to be. Copying the blueprint, transforming it to our liking, and adding your own to it allows creation to happen. This entry talks about past artists, inventors, and designers who took previous inventions and designs and made something new from it. The entry also talks about Apple and the personal computer and how Apple was ahead of its time by setting prices low (Compared to the other Personal computers at the time) and by having unique properties such as a one button mouse and other abilities. The concept is correct because as streetwear grows and evolves, designers adapt from the past and add their own twists to it. Watch this entry and if you can donate to this cause, It’s definitely worth it.- Imran

Everything is a remix part 2

So the second part of the series deals with the fruit salad of all movies; Star Wars. Shocking as it sounds George Lucas’s epic space film was actually a product of ideas and thoughts from several movies before it. As streetwear designers and lovers of art, BxC has long tried to maintain originality in any situation. Though were new to the streetwear game, Our idea’s and processes are ferocious and we try and embody that through our lifestyle. As such watch this episode and enjoy.- Imran

Everything is a remix part 1

So the gist is this; nothing is original. Though the concept of originality has long sustained itself in the medium of art and culture there is a lining under it. Artists have for the longest have made covers of other artists, rap artists freestyle on other’s beats, and of course music samples other music. It’s a constant recycling process and one that people have payed little attention to. However artist who paint, draw, sketch, model don’t see it in that way. However the inspiration from a majority of artist is their environment. The artist really just remix things. Check out the first part of this 4 part series. - Imran

Sholay

Sholay

Sholay is probably the most epic drama of the Indian genre that I have ever witnessed. The story is simple really. Two criminals are being taken to the local jail when the biggest criminal lord in the region attacks the train their on. This begins the epic of Sholay which then goes into several subplots, much murder and revenge, and all the elements of a western done Indian style. Check it out and don’t worry. It can be watched with english subtitles.- Imran

In 1988 several acclaimed movies were released such as Beetlejuice and Who Framed Roger Rabbit that took the U.S of A by storm. However across the pond, or actually should I say several Ponds and a few countries, Japan had just released a masterpiece of anime AKIRA. Set in a Dystopian neo-Tokyo, AKIRA is about a group of bikers led by a young hooligan named Kaneda. A accident with a psionic youth leads to the awakening of powers in one of Kaneda’s friends a fellow biker named Tetsuo. The movie was adapted from the 2000 page graphic novel that is widely considered an epic. Anyway the BxC team saw this movie a little while back and I thought why not review it. So the movie is no doubt epic. From the beginning scene to the last explosion everything in this movie comes together. The characters are more in depth then most other anime movies of its time. The movie itself broke the mold for anime films by running on detailed scenes and more then 160,000 animation cells. The themes that are prevalent are corruption of power, post war apocalyptic japanese culture, the transition from adolescence to maturity, social unrest, and has inspired several musicians and artists today such as Spaceghostpurrp  and Kanye West. As such it’s a wonderful and influential movie and should be viewed by everyone.. -Imran

If you haven’t heard of the new series Weed Wars, airing on Discovery channel, it’s something to look at. The channel’s new take on the current trend, that happens to be a paradox in that it’s an old trend with new shed light, is something that is a bit bright and gives the viewer some hope that not all that we see is bias and full of shit. History Channel has done a documentary on the wonderful world of marijuana and it wasn’t as great as I thought it would, be, full of lies that have been feed to the people by the government. Although the documentary questioned some of the “facts” that the federal government claims to have, the documentary wasn’t thorough and lacked much evidence. Here, with the new series, we see the struggles of a small medicinal marijuana dispensary with the local and possible state, and obvious federal, law issues/enforcement. The first episode is quite interesting as it shows the viewer how much it is frowned upon in society and how a couple of new age, loving hippies decide to go on ahead and try to change the world’s view on the harmless plant. They have many great ideas, but the series isn’t just about the dispensary, it also takes a look at a 35 year old pussy-ass nigga who has done nothing with his life, so he claims, and seems to blame it on cannabis. His ambition has been deteriorated and his motivation is gone, but to blame it all on a plant is pathetic, especially when you see the same users (who are older) try to run a legitimate business. I am not so sure if this one view on the poor sap is Discovery Channel’s way of pleasing the federal government, but I am glad to see that for the most part, the series seem un-bias and well done. Props to this new and enlightening series, Weed Wars. - Daniel

I’m pretty sure that short films are now a field of their own and very much so different than a regular film that are shown in theaters. Well, this short isn’t the “best” but it is pretty trippy and it will make you think, about life and so on. The animation went well with this short and well, I’m very happy that I saw this short film. The film is about a hot dog seller who is living a simple life; he owns a bear and sells off of his RV. The seller is getting tired of his pet because of it’s antics, and the rest shows the journey that he takes upon with his bear. Mad props to the production and the whole crew that made this motherfucker. (If this movie was shitty while you saw it, please feel free to spend $10 at your local dealer to enter the “trippy zone” and get the enhanced, more HD version of this film instead of the sober version.) - Daniel

Here is a “CNBC Original”, another documentary on the typical and once again mainstream ‘drug’ weed. Hope you guys enjoy it. (it’s kinda old, it was made in 2009, but it’s still good) - Daniel

Here is a really good documentary based on the God given herb that many of us decide to “abuse”. Medicinal Cannabis is simple and it could be considered boring just like any other documentary, but if you happen to actually listen to what the doctors say, you’ll be amazed at what the plant can do. The documentary just show’s the science behind the high and what are the effects of the daily usage. Endure the show. - Daniel
